Southwest Celebrations

Wow – hi internet! It’s been a while, but I’m happy to be back to let you know about a few of the awesome things I’ve been up to {besides the books and blog-iversary, of course!}. As a quick recap, over the past few months I’ve been back to the US for some awesome family celebrations {more on that shortly}, Dan and I celebrated our 3rd wedding anniversary with a pretty awesome trip {stay tuned!} and even some London-y celebrations. Suffice it to say we’ve continued having an awesome time in London.

As for a slightly longer recap...

Back in May {I'll pause to give you time to recall that far back...}, I had a work trip back to the US for training, and heck when someone else is paying for that ticket, it’s absurd not to tack on a trip home for a fraction of the cost it would normally take! So that’s exactly what I did. I stayed for 2 extra weeks in the US on top of the week of training in Chicago - for a total of 3 weeks! Dan even joined for one of those weeks. And it just so happens that May is always a pretty busy special month for my family, and it was even more so this year because we had a couple extra celebrations to add into the mix! On top of an awesome mother's day I got to spend with my mommy, I had to pace myself for all the celebrations we fit in that 2 week span!

Firstly, my big sis is PREGNANT and although she lives in California, she came back home for a few days and we got to throw her an adorable little shower for her and the little one.

It was so fun to see a lot of the baby things in person – it was the first time I’d seen her since Thanksgiving – and she and her baby bump were so cute. She is going to be a great mom, and it was amazing to see the way she’s already transforming! I can’t wait to be an Auntie this August.

My mom is an excellent baker and made this awesome reveal cake {but sorry, my lips are sealed}

On the day we had the baby shower, it also happened to be my 27th birthday. That felt weird even typing! Especially since there’s some days I feel 79 and can’t remember my age and other days that I feel that I just turned 21 :) {although the next day is usually one of those ‘79’ days!}

So my mom also made me breakfast, lunch and dinner cupcakes! {did I mention she’s a fabulous baker?!} I’d say it was pretty awesome because we got to have an awesome brunch, I saw some friends from back home, and my whole family was together. Greatest gifts ever. Alas, we tried our best here - but since we were brunching it up, there was just no time for pictures!

Another major event that we celebrated that weekend was my little sister's graduation from college! My parents are {finally!} done with college kids now – and have become true empty nesters as my sis left for her new job a mere 2 weeks later. So we had a big ‘ol party with family, friends and CAKE...again!

After all the parties, it settled down for a couple days before we celebrated my parents' 36th wedding anniversary!!

The whole trip was like a rejuvenating mini family reunion, coupled with so many big events {Mother's Day, Baby Showers, Birthdays, Graduations and Anniversaries...whew!}

All in all, I spent 2 weeks partying it up big time. And by partying I mean:

1: Going to Target

2: Drinking lots of Venti Starbucks' with my mom and sisters

3: Catching up with the fam

4: Visiting with grandparents, aunts and uncles in both Las Cruces and Albuquerque

5: Eating a TON of cake {as you could probably guess} and GREEN CHILE. We even brought some back with us and it's pretty much gone...sad day.

6: Spending some quality time with dear friends

7: Soaking up the why-is-it-so-hot-in-May New Mexican sun

8: Getting to stare in awe at the beauty of the Organ and Sandia mountains

9: Having my whole family together in our hometown

My favorite mountain view: The Organs

So yeah, a pretty wild time.

Does anyone else feel like May {and heck, now June} just flew by? What kinds of things filled up your past few months?
